We Joined Metametrik #309: "Digital Memory in Architecture: DATA

We recently joined Metametrik's Wednesday Meetings for its 309th episode,
Digital Memory in Architecture: DATA, hosted with Tayfun Parlak.
Metametrik is a Turkish platform at the intersection of architecture, design, and technology, built by a community of practicing architects and academics. Through weekly talks, videos, and workshops, it shares real project experience and hands-on knowledge with students and professionals across Turkey.
The conversation centered on how project information is produced, managed, and carried forward through BIM processes — and why so much of it gets lost before a project ever reaches construction. In the age of AI and digital twins, we talked about what it actually means for information to survive a project's full lifecycle rather than disappearing between phases.
A few points we touched on:
Why "digital memory" isn't the model itself, but the decisions, context, and reasoning behind it
Where information typically breaks down — usually at the handoffs between design, coordination, and construction
How structuring data as a continuous system, rather than isolated deliverables, lets it keep producing value long after the design phase ends
This is a conversation close to how we think at TAPA — design as a continuous information flow, not a set of disconnected phases. If you want to hear the full discussion, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBBYsG3JHYE&t=1738s
