Positioned at the center of Ulus, the 100 Years Bazaar is redefined as a public urban link that connects and interlinks the layered historical, social, and cultural strata that have developed through Ankara’s Turkish era and its Roman past. By retaining its Original Brutalist shape and structural character while straying away from unwanted and unqualified additions that developed through time, minimal intervention is incorporated to improve linkages and daylight for various levels. Linkages that connect and combine Ulus Square and Atatürk Boulevard and other urban axes through passages, terraces, and ramps and galleries ensure a smooth connection. Other functional aspects such as digital exhibition spaces, urban archives, and publishing units are included for boosting collective memory and retaining its commercial spirit and character at the same time.
